It’s obvious that Instagram has taken over the blogger world. More and more people are referencing blogger’s Instagram accounts for what to buy and inspiration as opposed to typing in their URL and reading a blog post. So why am I spending so much time here on my website? Why am I posting a blog post every Monday and Wednesday? (And the first Tuesday of every month for Trending Tuesday! *wink wink* Yes, that was a shameless plug.) I’ll give you one simple answer. We do not own Instagram. We must think of the bigger picture. Instagram could up and disappear tomorrow deleting all of our content and all of our hard work. Remember MySpace? Vine? There was a time when these social media networks were at their prime and now, nothing.
Instagram also has a mind of its own. You may follow me because you like what I post but might not see all of my pictures in your feed. While I love Instagram, this is definitely a downer. The social media network has been driving us bloggers crazy trying to find the answers. How are we supposed to get our content out there when Instagram is working against us? This has been on my mind for a good majority of the year and my only solution was to ensure my website is constantly up to date with new and exciting content for my followers. That way, if you’re not being shown all of my posts, you will always have hillheady.com as a resource.
So, if Instagram surprises us and leaves us high and dry tomorrow, you’ll know where to find me! Be sure to sign up for my newsletter just to the right of this post to never miss a beat! Of course, I still upload content to the gram and would appreciate a good ole follow!

I JUST wrote a post about this on my blog last week! It’s super true and I hope recognizing it helps bloggers get back to the basics – writing.

AMEN GIRL!!!! Continue to blog and promote it because there will always be a reader who wants more than a paragraph to DIY or learn something or engage somewhere. I love instagram but the heart of the matter is right here in the blog.
