HIGHLIGHTS
On September 1st, I celebrated my 24th birthday! I spent time celebrating with family and friends during Labor Day Weekend and ate a whole lot of cake! To make my birthday even better, college football began!! In case you haven’t heard, I’m a huge Alabama football fan, so having the first game and an Alabama win on my birthday was the perfect gift!
My mom and I had a little date night and attended Reese Witherspoon’s Whiskey in a Teacup book tour! Reese is too cute and I loved hearing about her background and inspiration for the book.
Not necessarily a highlight, but Charleston shut down for a few days due to Hurricane Florence. My office, stores, and restaurants across the Lowcountry closed for almost a week (if not more). Thankfully we were spared from Florence’s path and were able to spend a lot of quality time together with our family watching movies and playing games while we hunkered down. My thoughts are with all those who were affected!
WHAT I BOUGHT
There was a very exciting purchase this month… I bought a new camera!! I purchased a Canon 5D Mark III and cannot wait to put it to use. I’m currently working through an online course to learn the ins and outs of my camera, but will be making magic real soon!
I also won an Anthropologie gift card from entering a fellow blogger’s giveaway! I purchased a few things here and there for my future home and for fun listed below.
WHAT I WATCHED
Black Panther: This was recently released on Netflix and if you haven’t seen Black Panther yet, I encourage you to stop what you’re doing right now and watch it. I knew this was going to be good, but I didn’t know it was going to be that good. Definitely one of the best things I saw this month!
Sierra Burgess Is a Loser: Continuing my love of high school romcoms (and now furthering my obsession with Noah Centineo), I put Sierra Burgess Is a Loser at the top of my to-do list. This was a fun one with a cute and happy ending, but To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before still has my number one spot.
EXPLORING CHARLESTON
Downtown Farmer’s Market: My sister’s birthday gift to me was a morning trip to the farmer’s market – something we had been wanting to do! Browsing through different vendors and food trucks is one of my favorite things and the amazing bagel I had from Holey City Bagels was the icing on the cake!
Xiao Bao Biscuit: This restaurant has been on my list for a while now. I kept hearing about how I needed to try the Okonomiyaki (or Japanese cabbage pancake) because it’s amazing and perfect for vegetarians. So I finally caved and went with my good friend Amanda and they did not disappoint! I’m already thinking about my next visit.
Melfi’s: I was so excited to try the newest addition to Charleston, Melfi’s! My parents and I went recently on a Friday night – thankfully we had reservations, because at 5:45 it was already packed! The food was definitely delicious and the ambiance was superb. However, I will say I was a bit underwhelmed considering the prices.
Follow along on my food account as I eat my way through Charleston!
