Our Weekend Trip to Asheville, North Carolina
I visited Asheville, North Carolina for the first time 2 years ago during our Hurricane Irma evacuation and I’ve been itching to go back ever since! This cool town has become one of my favorite places for a good weekend getaway. A couple of weekends ago, I returned for a quick but fun visit! I have some family in Asheville that I was able to visit and my mom and dad came with me on this one!
For this trip, we stayed at the AC Hotel which is part of Marriott and in the perfect downtown location! Their modern decor really drew me in and most importantly, the bed was super comfy!! If you happen to be nearby or staying here, make it a point to have a drink or two at the rooftop bar, Capella on 9. We spent most of our evenings here! My dad could not get over their incredible happy hour menu which included Guacamole Deviled Eggs and Scallop Ceviche (pictured below). Not to mention, this hotel has some views y’all. I had a lovely view of the Blue Ridge Mountains right from my room and Capella on 9 had a breathtaking view of the city.
My favorite part of the AC Hotel, however, is their Trailblazer package. New to the hotel, the Trailblazer includes overnight accommodations, a luxury picnic basket including place-settings for four and hiking essentials including gourmet, local snacks, a bottle of wine, a personalized trail map for the novice to the advanced hiker, and a $50 gift certificate to dinner at Capella on 9. The Trailblazer allows you to have the perfect Asheville experience and we were some of the first people to try it out! So we decided to take on the Blue Ridge Mountains for the day and bring our picnic. Believe it or not, I was actually chilly up in the mountains! But I loved the cold weather and wish I could’ve taken a little bit back to Charleston! It was so relaxing to be in the mountains, quite the change of scenery, and take a second to relax as we ate our charcuterie board that was prepared by the Capella on 9 chefs. I can’t recommend this package more!! The backpack and everything inside is pictured below!
As for our dining choices throughout the vacation, we ate breakfast at Biscuit Head and dinner at Wicked Weed – both I highly recommend and are worth the wait! We also visited Asheville Chocolate for dessert, which was right across from our hotel – a real treat! There are many shops up and down the streets near the hotel that we had fun browsing in. You can really see Asheville’s personality in these stores!
If Asheville isn’t on your radar, clearly it needs to be! Can’t wait to visit again ASAP! Thank you AC Hotel for a lovely stay!
I was gifted a stay at AC Hotel Asheville in exchange for a review. All views and opinions are my own!
