Home Sweet Home: The Living Room

It’s finally here!! After teasing the new space on here and Instagram for a while, I’m finally sharing my home tour! If you’re new to hillheady.com, let me fill you in! I moved into my new apartment earlier this year in February! Previously, I had been living with my parents after moving to Charleston from New York to save a little money before getting my own place. After an extensive search, I found a cute little one-bedroom apartment that was the perfect size and just what I wanted!

As you can imagine, when I was living in New York, I didn’t have much space in my Brooklyn shoebox (check out my tour for that apartment here!). However, on the contrary, in this apartment, I have the perfect amount of space, and more than I could’ve imagined! But this meant I had a lot of space to fill. After trying to find the absolute smallest furniture ever for my place in New York, I knew it just wouldn’t cut it in the new place. When I unpacked everything and set it all up, it just looked silly – it was all so small it almost looked like doll furniture. Overall, I pretty much had to buy all new furniture which was fine because a lot has changed since I last bought home decor.

The first thing I purchased were these beautiful white chairs from Anthropologie (no longer available in white, but other colors are linked here). I had sat (no pun intended) on this purchase for a while and really thought about it but in the end, I kept coming back to them. I will say, this was a bit of a risky purchase… White chairs? Sounds like a whole lot of stains right? As soon as they were unpacked, we sprayed a protective seal over them and so far so good! Yes, I did drop a pretty penny on them, but it was totally worth it because this little corner of the apartment is definitely my favorite part.

Next up, I received these side tables from Joss & Main that fit perfectly on both sides of my couch. I own a lot of “trinkets” like this rotary phone and vintage style bluetooth radio, so I needed all the extra tabletop space. I also was on the hunt for a nice coffee table for the longest time. When I came across Celadon, I knew they had to have something. If you aren’t familiar with Celadon, they not only have a wonderful store here in Charleston and an online shop, but also a warehouse with amazing finds which is where I snagged this beautiful coffee table. I love how it makes a statement and instantly catches your eye when you walk in the room.

Finally, I needed a piece for the large wall space in between my two chairs. I had already known this spot of the apartment was my favorite, so I knew the art had to be really good. When I saw this print from Minted, my mouth just about dropped because I knew it was perfect. I got major Gray Malin vibes who is my favorite photographer! After I hung it, the entire room just seemed to come together. I stepped outside of my comfort zone and went for a rustic style frame and I’m so happy I did!

There are still a few more changes I’d like to make to this space before I can say it’s completely done. I bought this couch a couple of years ago when I was living in New York and while it does the job, it doesn’t entirely match anymore. I’ve had my eye on some pink sofas (like this one and this one) that I hope will really tie the room together. Also, the large wall above my couch definitely needs some loving. I’ve always wanted to have a giant gallery wall, so I’m hoping I can use it for that.

    The room looks amazing! I’ve been so excited for your home tour and it did not disappoint! I’m actually obsessed with that coffee table – it does the classic marble/white and gold combo but in a way I’ve never seen before and i LOVE. So excited to see more of the apartment!

    I truly adore this space! It looks more like a house than an apartment (I’m envious of those wood floors) and the whole environment is colorful and cozy. The white chairs are seriously gorgeous – and I love all your knick-knack kind of pieces too!
