Essentials for the Perfect Fall Bonfire
Fall isn’t complete without at least one bonfire! Last week, I hosted my dinner party gang for our monthly get together and my favorite part was gathering around the bonfire and making s’mores after stuffing our faces with mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. It had me thinking that I’d love to have friends over more often for a bonfire. It’s such a great way to spend some good quality time with friends and family! For future bonfires, I’ve created a checklist of essentials:
- Fire starters: Save yourself a couple of minutes (or thirty) with these handy dandy fire starters. They were a huge lifesaver after a very rainy week in Charleston!
- Blankets: Cozy up by the fire with a blanket! While the fire will put off some heat, you’ll still want to bundle up!
- Bug spray: A not so glamorous addition, but you’ll thank me later!
- The snacks!! Most importantly, don’t forget the s’mores! You’ve got your necessities – marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate. Now shake things up with Reese’s (a crowd favorite at our bonfire) and other candies or peanut butter and Nutella.
- Napkins: Often a forgotten essential. S’mores are super sticky and messy and napkins will definitely come in handy.
- Apple cider: If you’re ready to take your party to the next level, serve up some homemade apple cider in the crock pot for your crew to drink by the fire. Check out the recipe I referenced here.
- Music: Finally, create a fun fall playlist for your get together! We went with Christmas classics to get us in the holiday spirit!

YES! Love a good smore. We used to make Mickey’s in our bonfire as a kid. It’s just a potato wrapped in silver foil and throw in the fire. It becomes the fluffiest and most flavorful baked potato ever.
