June 2020 Recap

June 2020 Recap

Here’s a little June recap! Sharing what I bought, what I watched, and a few favorites here and there.

HIGHLIGHTS

If I had to sum up this month in a few words it would consist of lots of pool days and lots of couch days. It was another quiet month with COVID19 cases spiking in South Carolina, but we did get to celebrate my dad’s birthday and Father’s Day! We’ve loved getting to see my little nephew swim around the pool and continue to grow. It has been so nice being able to spend more time together with my family!

My friend, Mimi, has also seen such a huge spike in her business, The Tiny Tassel! I’ve been helping her pack orders and basically acting as her glorified intern (which really has been fun!). If you haven’t already, check out all of her fun products on her website here!

WHAT I BOUGHT

I actually didn’t do a lot of buying this month, but I am most excited about this rolling drawer stand and baskets I got from Target! If you don’t already know, I’m a bit of a balloon fanatic. I love making balloon arches (as seen here) and I haven’t had anything to store all of my balloons in. Soooo I bought these two items so I can color coordinate all of my balloons. It’s the little things right?!

WHAT I WATCHED

13th: I’ve been spending a lot of time trying to educate myself on the Black Lives Matter movement through movies and documentaries. This one stood out to me the most and was so incredibly eye opening. I didn’t know much about how the criminal justice system pertains to racism and this documentary had great information. I definitely recommend you give it a watch and continue to learn!

Scandal: Well we FINALLY finished Scandal! I have to admit, I really dropped off at the end and stopped paying attention. I think I would’ve liked it a lot better had we not binged it back to back to back because I started losing interest for sure. Did anyone else feel this way while watching?

Floor is Lava: Alright this show had me ROLLING. It was such an easy watch and perfect to play in the background while working from home.

EXPLORING CHARLESTON

This month, I grabbed to-go food from two of my tried-and-true favorite spots here in Charleston, Gnome Cafe and Basic Kitchen. These two never let me down and it was nice to be able to support some local businesses again!

A new favorite is also Sightsee Shop, a coffee shop located downtown. I’ve really appreciated the way they’ve responded to the Black Lives Matter movement and all the steps they’ve taken to ensure their customers and staff are safe during this time. Because of that, they gained a new forever customer! Definitely check them out if you live in Charleston or are ever visiting!

I honestly felt very much the same about Scandal and I didn’t binge watch it. So I think it just didn’t live up to the expectations we all had for it towards the end.
I miss Basic Kitchen sooooooo much! I cannot wait to visit you soon (hopefully sooner than later) and go!
Thanks for including my post lady!
