Last week, Kelsey and I traveled to Virginia for a quick little mountain getaway! I was particularly excited about this trip because 1. I had never been to Virginia and 2. I had never been on a mountains vacation! And if you’re looking for a weekend in the mountains, Primland is the way to go. This beautiful resort is tucked away for the ultimate quiet and relaxing trip. I loved how the entire trip was a complete experience and one that I will never forget!
WHERE WE STAYED
Primland is a luxury resort in the Blue Ridge Mountains located on 12,000 acres of land. There are many different and cool ways you can stay with Primland, but we stayed in the recently built Pinnacle Cottages. We had our own private and expansive balconies with amazing views plus a kitchen and living room with the coolest fireplace. These are great for groups, because you can all stay in one cottage and have more than enough room. You can also stay in the Lodge (which is the main building pictured above) or rent your own Fairway Cottages, Mountain Homes, or Tree Houses. Yes, I did say Tree Houses!! We got to see these in person and they are the definition of your ideal treehouse. Imagine waking up to breathtaking views each morning! Yep, this place is perfection. Not to mention, the resort also offers shuttles to and from the Lodge so we never had to worry about getting lost in the mountains.
WHAT WE ATE
Primland conveniently has 3 restaurants on the property. The two we ate at were Elements and 19th Pub and both were excellent! Elements also has a Chef’s Table where you are given a seven-course tasting menu right in the kitchen. You get a behind the scenes experience while seeing the chef in action. P.S. If you go to the pub, order the Piquante Peppers! We couldn’t get over how amazing they were and ordered them 3 times during our stay!
WHAT WE DID
Primland has endless activities for you to choose from! From golfing to tree climbing, there is truly something for everyone! Check out a full list of their activities here.
RTV Trail Riding: This is the best way to see Primland! The guided tour took us through a good portion of the land and to some of the best views the mountain has to offer.
Archery and Tomahawk Throwing: Now this was completely out of my element but I was so excited to try both of these activities because I knew I would never be able to do them elsewhere! We learned the proper techniques and actually hit the target quite a few times!
Spa: One of the highlights of our trip was definitely a visit to the spa. After riding around on RTVs all morning, we were treated to a nice and relaxing massage. However, my favorite part of the spa was the relaxation room. I could’ve sat in there all day! It was quite a windy day, so you could hear the wind brushing the trees. We were given blankets and lounged with a perfect view of the mountains. Can’t get more relaxing than that!
Stargazing: We ended our trip with a little stargazing on our last night. Primland has an amazing observatory right at the Lodge – if you look at the first picture, it’s the giant silver structure attached to the building. The sky was so clear and we could see so many stars. They also have a telescope that allows you to view far outside of our solar system. Cory, who runs the observatory, was so knowledgable and you can tell she loves her work! This was definitely my favorite activity of the trip!
We were gifted a stay at Primland Resort and meals in exchange for a review. All views and opinions are my own!
