The hardest part of my job (yes, I consider blogging my job) isn’t necessarily the writing of a blog post. It’s the planning that goes into a blog post. I recently spoke with the fashion merchandising class at North Gwinnett High School in my hometown in Georgia about blogging, and one of the questions they had for me was “how do you create content?” My answer was anything but simple, as this is a long and extensive task. It also depends on the situation. All of my blog posts are written differently and with different intentions. However, I mostly plan in two different ways. I’ve listed the ways and the processes below.
- I’ll think of a topic beforehand and plan accordingly. Sometimes I decide on a specific post I’d like to share with you all and form an entire look based off this. For example, I knew I wanted to share the different ways to wear a scarf (coming soon!). Thus, I created a whole look specifically for this idea.
- I am inspired by my looks and locations. This is the most common way I create content. Prior to a shoot, I’ll spend a good amount of time scouting out locations and finding new and unique spots around Charleston to take photos. Scouting includes seeing what time of day has the best lighting, what colors match with the area, and more. I make sure to visit every location before every shoot. I also spend time looking through new arrivals at my favorite places to shop to make sure I am always sharing new and trending pieces. Then, after I receive the photos back, I will pair a topic for the photos. Sometimes they relate and sometimes they don’t (like this post!), but this is when my posts are most successful.
I’m always looking for new ideas and new topics, so if you ever want to see something, drop me a message and let me know! Bloggers: How do you create your content?
