A Rainy Day in Charleston
Well y’all, it’s another rainy week in Charleston. I do love this city, but Charleston is definitely at its best on a gorgeous sunny day. It’s full of outdoor activities – a day at the beach, kayaking, taking a stroll down King Street, and more! So what are we to do when the weather is a bit dreary? This has definitely been an issue for me this summer as I love exploring the Lowcountry as much as I can. It made me think outside of the box for new activities. Rain or shine, don’t let it ruin your day. Here’s how to spend a wet day in this charming city.
- An easy number one, check out a new restaurant! Know of a place you’ve been dying to try? What better day than today!
- Visit your local museums and take a tour. One of my absolute favorite spots in Charleston is the Gibbes Museum. Also, the historic homes here are endless and you’ve probably driven past them many times without even knowing! The Nathaniel Russel House and Aiken-Rhett House are two of my favorites.
- Head to The Alley for food and bowling! I recently went here with my family and we had the best time! Not to mention the food is so good.
- Put on your rain boots and do a little shopping. Check out my Charleston Shopping Guide to see where you should go!
- Take a class and learn something new! Here’s a list of some of my favorite classes around town!
– Tassel jewelry workshop with The Tiny Tassel
– Intro to Brush Lettering with The Town Serif
– Candle making class with Candlefish
– Flower arranging with Charleston Flower Social
– Painting class with Modern South Studio
– Cookie decorating with Bullfish Cookie Company
– Cooking class with Williams Sonoma - Grab dessert with a friend at Carmella’s. Still on my to-do list, but I’ve heard so many great things about this spot!
- See a movie at the Terrace Theater! This charming theater is my number one spot for seeing new (and classic) movies!
Thankfully, I’ve got my new rain boots from Sperry to keep me covered! I took them for a test drive during a recent downpour and these babies are the real deal. Need a new pair for the upcoming season? Check out my favorites from Sperry below:

These also make great activities for days when it’s way too hot to be outdoors (which would be all the time to me haha). Great suggestions, and cutest pics ever!

Rainy days always seem to take away all my motivation, but I suppose with a cute pair of rain boots there is still so much to do and see other than staying in with netflix!
