Last weekend, I traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina with my favorite gal pal Kelsey, of Chasing Cinderella! I was so excited for the trip because I had never been to Charlotte and I am finally starting to tackle one of my New Year’s resolutions – to travel more! Charlotte is definitely a place you should put on your list if you live in the south. The city is very eclectic, has something to offer for everyone, and is so easy to travel to. While we did run into some rainy weather, we made the most of our getaway and saw the best of Charlotte. If you’re planning a trip, check out what we did below for some ideas!
WHERE WE STAYED
We spent our 2-night stay at The Duke Mansion, a bed and breakfast right outside of downtown Charlotte! The beautiful building is set on 4.5 acres of gardens and grounds. We loved exploring and seeing the blooming flowers – it’s the perfect spot to sit in the morning and sip on a cup of tea. Our room was cozy and perfect and the decor of the entire place in every room was so lovely!
WHERE WE ATE
Duck Donuts: I have heard so much about this little donut shop and I couldn’t wait to indulge! They did not disappoint. My favorite was the Blueberry Icing with Lemon Drizzle! The word is also that Duck Donuts will be coming to Charleston soon! Yay!
SouthBound: Kelsey and I both love queso, so we were so excited to eat at SouthBound for lunch! The atmosphere was perfect and so was the food! We had such a great time!
The Pickled Peach: We also took a detour to Davidson, NC and had lunch at the Pickled Peach. I absolutely loved this spot! The ingredients were so fresh and we were able to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather!
Hello, Sailor: This was probably the place I was most excited to visit of the trip. Located right on the water, the decor is just amazing and so inviting! We finished our trip here with the best soft serve!
WHAT WE DID
Not Just Coffee: This coffee shop was right around the corner from our bed and breakfast! The name speaks for itself – it not only is a coffee shop but a menswear store and an art gallery! We met fellow bloggers, Taylor of Reese’s HardWear and Laura of Louella Reese, for a coffee and to catch up! It was so great to see a friendly face!
Park Road Shopping Center: For our shopping fix, we went to Park Road Shopping Center! It had many different restaurants and boutiques, but we specifically stopped into K-la and Julie’s Boutique!
Amélie’s French Bakery and Café: Also in this shopping center is the cutest little café! I mean y’all, I was in love!! The decor was so fun and eclectic and they had yummy macaroons!
Charlotte Rail Trail: One of the coolest parts of Charlotte is the Rail Trail that connects different neighborhoods together of the city through a public trail! We saw so many people riding bikes, walking their dogs, or going for a jog. Make sure to check out the magic carpet murals along the path!
We were gifted a weekend stay at The Duke Mansion and meals in exchange for a review. All views and opinions are my own!
