Hello again! I have been bit MIA the past couple of weeks, as I have been nonstop traveling this summer! A few weeks ago I was in Destin, Florida for my bestie’s bachelorette party, then I took a fun family vacation in Havana, Cuba for a week (more to come), and spent the fourth at home in Charleston, South Carolina! As a classic over packer, packing for a week in Cuba was incredibly difficult for me, so I wanted to share a few packing/travel tips and also feature a few new partners that were life savers during my travels!
PS. I once packed a month-long European trip in one checked bag, so I’m basically an expert!!!!!
1. Invest in a comfy chic travel outfit. I wore this dress from Old Navy while on the plane to Cuba and it was perfect! It’s just the right balance between “I’m super comfy, but can also immediately jump off the plane and go sightseeing”. These shoes are also the exact same – comfy and adorable.
2. Make a packing list. Know how many days you are spending in your destination and pack for what you’ll be doing. I always think “well, I don’t know how I’ll be feeling that day, so I’ll just bring multiple outfits”. Let’s be real, you’ll most likely be wearing the same thing everyday anyways, so leave room for all the fun stuff you’ll be bringing back with you!
3. Don’t procrastinate. I’m a classic “night before” packer. Don’t be like me!!! You’re more likely to forget items when you are rushed. Definitely make sure to include your headphones! I love my pair from Sudio Sweden, because they are wireless and hang perfectly around your neck, which makes listening to music while traveling hands free and stress free.
4. Bring snacks. You will be forever thankful if you follow this tip. My parents packed an entire backpack full of Pringles, granola bars, Goldfish, etc. for our Cuba trip and it saved us so much money and really came in handy when we needed a quick bite while laying by the pool and sightseeing! I’m obsessed with this new company I’m partnering with called Fat by Nature. Their snacks are perfect for on the go scenarios like traveling and will give you fuel for the day!
5. Also, bring a portable charger. SERIOUSLY. My phone dies pretty quickly, because I’m always taking pictures and videos. This portable charger from The Bagtique really came in handy on my vacation when my battery was running low. Plus it comes with a cord that has 3 different types of plugs for all different phones! A must have!
6. And finally, if you can… Limit yourself to 3 pairs of shoes. I will not follow this rule because on my last trip I insisted on bringing 6 pairs, but I read this on another guide and thought this would be the more reasonable tip.
Happy summer and happy traveling!!
