About five months ago, I decided to move across the country and make New York City my new home. It has been one of the best decisions I have ever made! The New York atmosphere is so incredibly unique (and I’m not just talking about the smell). Between umbrella wars on a rainy day and cramming into the L on the 7:45AM train, there’s just no other place in the world like the Big Apple.
Here are 5 reasons why I love New York!
- There’s always something going on in the city. Whether it’s a Stranger Things themed party, a silent disco, or a book signing with Grace Coddington (one of the best events I’ve ever been to!!), you will never be bored in NYC and this adventurer has a great appreciation for the busy calendar.
- Of course, the food is to die for. I am a foodie through and through and thankful for a city that is vegetarian/vegan friendly. You can dine all around the world without leaving the comfort of Manhattan. And of course, the bagels. I am forced to walk by my favorite bagel place (Williamsburg’s Bagelsmith) every morning on the way to work and it is getting harder and harder to resist an egg whites, cheese, and avocado on an everything bagel when my feet are dragging on a Monday morning. Keep up with some of my recent mouth watering meals on @anotherlittlepizzamyheart!
- NYC is one big melting pot of fun. The diversity here is endless and there is a huge sense of creative energy in every nook and cranny of NYC. Everyone in New York has a story to tell and therefore, inspiration is everywhere: on the streets, in the buildings, on the subway. I am constantly surrounded by innovative and ingenious people who motivate me to be a better version of myself.
- New York has taught me so much already. My boss during my internship last fall told me something that has stuck in my brain ever since. He said “never say no”. Simple as that. If someone invites you to an event, say yes. You never know what can come about or who you could meet. Another hard, but necessary lesson New York has drilled in to my brain quite quickly is to save my money. While there are many free things to take advantage of in New York, there are also many excursions that can blind you and in the end, we all must pay rent for our itty bitty shoeboxes!!!
- And finally, the opportunities are endless! There is opportunity on every street corner. If you have the heart and the drive, you can make it big in this big city. As cheesy as it sounds, dreams do come true in NYC! (You just have to live in your shoebox eating $1 pizza for a little while!)
Of course, some outfit details for you fashionistas. I’m in love with this Tommy Hilfiger dress I snagged a few months ago. It goes perfectly with this silver bomber and the windy city.
And how fun is this adorable purse from Imoshion? Imoshion is an animal friendly brand that creates vegan totes, clutches, wallets, etc. This clutch is a part of the companies new collection! Stay tuned for more fun new additions!
