5 Blog Posts I’m Loving This Week, Part 2
With so much uncertainty in the world right now, I have been using the internet as an escape to try and find a little bit of positivity throughout the week. One thing that truly brightens my day, is checking in on my favorite bloggers and reading some of their most recent posts. I am always inspired by the content I see from these 5 bloggers below and I wanted to take a second to share the love and give their recent posts that stood out to me this week a shoutout. Check them out below and be sure to explore their pages a bit while you’re at it!
1. Affordable Beauty Products to Try Right Now – Charmed by Camille
When it comes to makeup, I am totally clueless. If you didn’t notice, I don’t wear makeup daily – in fact, I don’t remember the last time I did my own makeup. It has probably been at least a year! However, I still think skincare is super important… but this is another thing I’m rather clueless about. My beauty guru friend, Camille, recently did this roundup of affordable products that I found super helpful. I always hate spending a ton of money on things that I may not use or like in the end, so this is a great solution for trying out new items. What will I be trying out first? The Sephora sheet masks Camille listed instantly caught my eye and will be first on the list!
2. 5 Tips To Keep Your Blog Going During Coronavirus Downturn – Poor Little It Girl
Cathy’s blog, Poor Little It Girl, has grown to become one of my absolute favorite blogs. Not only is she the cutest, but she always tells it how it is and keeps it real for her followers – something that is pretty hard to come across these days in the blogging world. When Coronavirus initially hit the U.S., there was a moment where bloggers didn’t know what exactly to do – Do we post per usual? Do we go silent? Many, including myself, had sponsored content that needed to shared during this time frame, but of course, did not want to be insensitive to all that is happening. I really loved this post and how it included direct quotes from bloggers on how they are proceeding with their accounts in the wake of this pandemic.
In addition to this post, Cathy and Jessica, who both co-founded The Blog Societies, held a webinar that was super helpful. If you are a blogger and looking to grow your business, I definitely recommend you check out The Blog Societies! I look forward to attending their conference every year!
3. A Few Ways We’re Trying To Help Right Now – Gal Meets Glam
And while we are discussing all things Coronavirus, I was so impressed to see this amazing post from Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam. In addition to making donations where they can, the Gal Meets Glam team is donating 100% of the profits from their Little Gal collection to Baby2Baby, a non-profit that has been working around the clock to get diapers, hygiene, formula and more into the hands of children living in poverty impacted by COVID-19. The post also includes some great ideas on how you can support local and support small businesses during this time, as they are hurting now more than ever.
4. Best Businesses of Charleston Guide – Charleston Blonde
Living in Charleston, I am always asked where the best brunch spot is or where to grab a drink in the city. Thankfully, Jaime of Charleston Blonde just did all the work for me and compiled a list of all of the best spots to hit while you’re in the Lowcountry. Bookmark this post for your next trip!
5. My Best Tips for Working at Home – Sassy Red Lipstick
I won’t lie, these past couple of weeks have really been a huge adjustment for me. (And really everyone!) In addition to my blog, I work full time at a PR and social media firm here in Charleston, which means going into an office every Monday through Friday. I never realized how much I thrived on that routine until now. I’ve definitely been enjoying this downtime, but from 9am to 5pm, it is business as usual and time to get busy. I know it seems silly, but these little tips really do help get you out of your lazy funk, especially the one about not working in your bed. I’m still working on that whole changing out of your pajamas thing, but one step at a time, right?!
